Souls are not distinguished by their external attributes. A soul does not heed the importance of such things as a person’s appearance, abilities, nationality and other special qualities—all of which are but an indication of the spiritual root of the soul. In the end, however, the souls ascend back to their root, where they unite into one.

Souls of all men unite into one soul, representing man. The souls of all women unite to become one soul, representing woman. And these two parts join together to become one soul, and such is the union between Adam and Eve, which the Creator intended from the beginning. We were not talking about a man and a woman in this world, but about two parts of a structure in the spiritual whole—two parts of a one soul which unite to form the perfect spiritual object—a vessel that’s completely filled with all the Upper Light and good which the Creator intended. It means that the difference between people on the corporeal level is only in their uncorrected state in this world.

Thus, when a Kabbalist ascends, neutralizing his body, his egotistical attributes, he unites with all the other souls. It goes without saying that he doesn’t need to visit graves for that and perform any rituals. It’s absolutely unnecessary and Kabbalah does not deal with that. Kabbalists are not obligated to perform any physical actions in this world; all of their actions are internal.

One who does not know the wisdom of Kabbalah is able to perceive only the external seeming corporeal. The essence, however, is within and can be attained by way of inner governance.
